Our Digital Photography course is a comprehensive guide to becoming a fully-fledged photographer. Whether you’re a complete beginner and don’t know your focus from your flash or you’ve already dabbled in the “black art” of photography, this course will teach you everything you ever needed to know about photography.
The course consists of 4 core units, which have been outlined in the ‘Snapshot’ section above. Unit 1 covers all the Key Topics such as the History of Photography, Equipment and Accessories and the Photographic process. This gives students the necessary background knowledge to build their practical skills on.
As the course progresses, students will learn about the most important elements of photography such as composition, viewpoint and framing as well as features which pertain to the “digital” aspect of photography, including data transfer, scanning and editing. They will also learn about Photoshop, one of the most instrumental pieces of software involved in photography of recent years.
Units 3 considers Photography in Practice while the final unit explores some of the more advanced techniques involved and advice on setting up your own business as a photographer. This gives students a practical insight into how to pursue a career in photography and what potential areas they could specialise in.
There are no formal requirements for a place on this course and applicants from a variety of backgrounds are welcome. To guarantee your own success, it is essential that you have a particular passion for photography. An eye for detail and some creativity will also serve you well on this course!
Although the course is comprehensive and informative, we do expect you to carry out your own investigations and while there are no educational requirements, students should be aware that they will need to possess a reasonable level of literacy and numeracy skills in order to meet the objectives of the course.
