Fancy a career in Forensic Science? Do you watch CSI, Silent Witness and Line of Duty on television and think you would find the job interesting, or even exciting? Would you like to learn how the Police use scientific methods to solve crimes?

If any of the above is true, you have a fantastic opportunity to get started here – you’ve come to exactly the right place!

Our outstanding Forensic Science Course has been specially written to enable anyone interested in learning about the use of science to solve crimes, to do so, from the trivial to the very serious.

Drug crime, crimes of violence (including rape and murder), property crime and hi-tech (so-called “white collar”) crime are literally put under the microscope to help you understand how and when they were committed, and what the scene, victim or tools of the crime can tell us about the perpetrator or offender.

Even in the absence of physical evidence, information obtained by the forensic scientists from seemingly unrelated items or circumstances is often the “missing link” the police need to solve the crime and prosecute the criminals.

It is an excellent course for those expanding their knowledge of crime and crime detection, and in our opinion should be “required reading” for anybody embarking on a career in law enforcement, crime prevention, or working with offenders. The course will also be of interest to anybody who just wants to get a feel for some of the science behind those popular TV series!

The best news is that this fantastic course requires no earlier experience and has no entry requirements. You just need a passion for the subject! You can study Forensic Science in your own time, from home, at your own pace.

Course Structure

The course is designed for study at work or at home through the distance learning method. A glance at the titles of the individual modules shows you just what this fascinating course is all about.

The course starts by detailing the history and development of Forensic Science, and moves through discussion of the research methods used, to then deal with how it is used in police investigations and the court room. The term “forensic” (literally translated meaning “in the service of the law”) is itself derived from the Latin “forensis”, which means “public, in open court”. Detailed case histories, old and recent, are explored to show how the science was applied to get the results that put the offenders behind bars.

Over the course you will gain a through understanding of the relevant aspects of Criminology, Human Anatomy and Physiology, and where applicable, Pathology. The final unit examines forensic science in practice.
