Want to become a SOCIAL WORKER, HEALTH VISITOR or CARER? Got your sights set on becoming a NURSE or PARAMEDIC?

If the answer to any of the above questions is “yes”, then clicking through to this course could be the best decision you have ever made! If you want a deeper knowledge of Health and Social Care or have an ambition to work in any of the caring professions, you’ve come to exactly the right place.

Why do I say this? The course is one of our most popular, and many of our students have told us it’s the best Health and Social Care Course they’ve ever seen. It’s ideal for anyone wanting to work in the health and social care sector and is excellent CPD material for those already working in a related field. The course covers a wide range of topics affecting all the helping professions, from personal development to mental health.

What will I learn on the Course?

The course follows a logical and familiar structure; very similar to the way we live our lives. Once the (essential) background material, largely concerning applicable legislation and our wonderful National Health Service, has been clearly laid out, it begins in earnest with a thorough examination of child development.

You are then given an insight into many of the health issues that affect most of us throughout our lives, including common diseases and illnesses like cancer. Subsequent units help you understand the effects of drugs and alcohol on the body, and their impact on society. The course also deals with the mental health issues linked to all of these.

Within the “health” section, we also explore the symptoms and treatment of various conditions, the importance of nutrition (prevention rather than cure!), and the physical and emotional effects of eating disorders.

Legislation

Legislation affects us all in every part of our lives, and the caring professions have their own rules, regulations, and legal compliance requirements to deal with. A helpful section clearly explains the relevant legislation affecting those working in the health and social care fields, and how those laws influence policy and practice within the sector.

The NHS

The section dealing with our National Health Service (NHS) is one of the most interesting modules for many students, and it is squarely placed right at the beginning of the course. Love it or loathe it, the NHS is at the core of care delivery in the UK, but very few people know much about its history or the way it works. This module takes a look at the inside workings of the NHS, how it has evolved and grown since its creation, some of its most significant developments and successes, and its operational strategy.

The course also deals in some depth with the role of the childcare and education sectors, and the control, coordination and administration operations delivered by OFSTED in its role as the regulator. Finally, you get a grounding in the sensitive issues surrounding abuse, including domestic violence, child and elder abuse, and how to ensure both you and those in your care stay safe at all times.
