Distance Learning Courses

Are our distance learning courses effective?

An increasing number of students, not only in the UK but around the world, have already jumped into online distance learning as a viable alternative to face-to-face teaching. This has spiked since the start of the Covid-19 pandemic for fairly obvious reasons.

Some may still not be convinced over the validity of distance learning courses or may still only see challenges along the way. However, one of the biggest benefits that distance learning courses bring (obliquely) is the practice and enhancement of self-discipline.

Studying independently without physical supervision from someone or something external creates a huge potential to lose focus or drift off into something more ‘pleasurable’ (of course, some people do find studying pleasurable or fulfilling, too).

Distance learning courses give you the opportunity and the flexibility to study in your own time, at your own pace. If you don’t have the self-discipline to manage your time and priorities, then completing your course might present a problem.

As you complete your online course, you are not only learning and developing the theoretical and technical skills of what you’re studying but you are also building up your character, strengthening your resolve, and improving self-discipline.

These are essential life skills – an unexpected bonus, and completely free of charge!

Distance learning courses can be as effective as the conventional courses you take in ‘bricks and mortar establishments such as universities or academies.

If you are still wondering if this is best for you, then why not take the plunge and experience a distance learning course?

Studying at Cambridge Open College is not complicated at all. They provide several distance learning courses from a range of sectors, including business and commerce, childcare and education, design and technology, and more. Visit their website and explore the options presented to you.

Looking For Beauty Courses

Self-love is a big deal and is very relevant today. In this age of unregulated social media, the concept of ‘beauty (still very much ‘in the eye of the beholder) can be both inspiring and destructive.

Beauty is taken seriously; people are now much more open and willing to improve and enhance their physical appearance not because they’re being superficial but to gain personal satisfaction ‘from within.’ There is a growing belief that taking care of yourself and looking good is something you owe to yourself. Beauty should not just be on the outside but should also radiate from the inside.

Making sure you look good from within (however you choose to define this esoteric concept) should be as important and painstaking as ensuring you look beautiful and presentable physically. It’s a ‘constant’; something you work on and maintain continually because this helps you boost your morale and confidence.

Beauty courses help individuals promote self-love and wellness. Now that this idea is becoming increasingly relevant, entering into the beauty business or industry as a career has the potential to be popular and lucrative. If you are thinking of opening up a Spa, massage facility, or beauty parlor it is important that you equip yourself with the knowledge and expertise to both help your business thrive and avoid expensive mistakes. There are already many beauty courses available for this purpose, and you have the option to learn from the comfort of your home flexibly in your own time.

Cambridge Open College provides several beauty courses, including Beauty Therapy, Makeup Application, Manicure & Pedicure, and different kinds of massage such as Indian Head Massage or Swedish Massage.

Reasonable Correspondence Courses

Posted by : November 4, 2021 admin

abt1

The Cambridge English Dictionary defines ‘correspondence courses’ as “a course of study in which you study at home, receiving, and sending off work by post, email, etc.” In other words, study and learning conducted through correspondence mean, rather than face to face teaching.

Today’s correspondence courses are much more likely to be called ‘distance learning’, ‘web-based learning’ or ‘online learning. In fact, the term has largely fallen out of use (or into disuse); many students under the age of 30 will almost certainly not understand what a correspondence course is – “very 20th century, darling…”

There is now a very diverse and plentiful number of online learning providers across the UK and around the world delivering formal qualifications arising from courses they have delivered entirely remotely.

Since the start of the Covid-19 pandemic, and as a direct consequence of the imposed ‘lockdowns’ which threatened most education providers with permanent closure, many were forced to introduce safe remote learning platforms that enabled their hurriedly constructed ‘correspondence courses’ to be studied from students’ homes via internet connection.

Cambridge Open College, a leading and pioneering distance learning institution that has been doing business this way for years already had a Virtual Learning Environment, or VLE, in place to securely deliver and tutor their own students and learners. The College has hundreds of ‘correspondence courses that can be (and have always been) studied from home or anywhere else with an internet connection – even on the train while commuting!

Take a look at the huge subject range at https://cambridgeopencollege.ac today. They include nationally recognized qualification courses on the Regulated Qualification Framework (QCF) and endorsed qualifications quality assured by one of the UK’s premier Ofqual regulated awarding organizations, Focus Awards, under their Focus on Quality Provision (FQP) Scheme.

Home Study Courses

Posted by : October 26, 2021 admin

Life-Coaching-(Level-3)

Home study courses have many advantages over those provided by traditional face-to-face tuition at physical ‘bricks and mortar’ establishments. The quality of home study courses is high if delivered by credible institutions such as Cambridge Open College (http://cambridgeopencollege.ac), regarded as leaders in the sector here in UK.

Quality home study courses are considered as good as those delivered in a more formal, and the resulting qualifications awarded after studying are just as valid, whether they are nationally recognised and registered on the Regulated Qualification Framework (RQF) or endorsed by an Ofqual regulated awarding organisation such as Focus Awards.

With home study courses you gain your qualification without needing to give up work or incurring student debt. You can study at home, the local library, your favourite café, or coffee shop, while commuting (as long as you’re not driving!), or from anywhere with an internet connection. All you need is a smart phone, laptop, or tablet with which you can access course materials through a secure online delivery system such as that provided by Cambridge Open College. Study flexibly in your own time, at your own pace, 24/7/365.

Cambridge Open College offers a wide range of home study courses to learners in the UK, and because of the innovative online VLE (Virtual Learning Environment) they provide, overseas students are also welcomed. Online Beauty Courses UK

Posted by : October 21, 2021 admin

Beauty courses can be taken in hairdressing, makeup and other aspects of personal grooming such as hair removal (depilation), or even creating henna tattoos. They are taught in some schools, alongside other practical ‘lifestyle’ projects, usually as part of another subject.

Beauty courses are also available in post-16 education studies at various colleges around the country, and through online providers such as Cambridge Open College, a leading UK distance learning institution. They are also available as part of an apprenticeship.

Self-awareness, particularly amongst younger people, has enabled a rapid growth of the beauty industry, and more widespread demand for treatments and products that were previously much more gender specific. The beauty sector no longer caters exclusively for women, which was overwhelmingly the case just a few short years ago.

With that exponential growth has come a much-increased need for beauty courses and less generalised training. Males have entered the space, for example, which has given rise for new and different treatments, and some specific products, such as those related to nails and hand beauty, now have their own ‘salons’ on the high street. Not only has the beauty sector exploded, the need for new and more adventurous products has become a huge market and business opportunity.

The education and training sector has been playing ‘catch-up’ as a result, and the number of individual beauty courses, training and qualifications in new subjects and specialisms has increased to meet the demand. ‘Market-led’ in every sense of the phrase.

Online or distance learning beauty courses are a very welcome and convenient option for many. They can be studied from home, are flexible enough to be fitted around work and family commitments, and – unlike courses at traditional offline establishments – can be completed from anywhere with an internet connection. And they cost much less.

Cambridge Open College is currently expanding its range of online beauty courses, which already includes Beauty Therapy, Makeup Application, and Indian Head Massage, all at Level 3, with many more to come.

Design And Technology Courses

Posted by : October 15, 2021 admin

1

Remember when woodwork and metalwork were taught in schools?

Great, practical subjects that supported career choices further downstream (construction, cabinet making, furniture design etc), but more importantly a period when boys (the male of the species; he/him) ‘could be boys’! They could get their grubby little hands (boys were allegedly always smelly and dirty back then) on tools and stuff and actually make something nominally useful in school time. Brilliant!

Of course, in today’s ‘gender neutral’ world, embracing inclusivity and diversity principles, such classes would be just as likely to include girls. Conversely, the practical subjects enjoyed primarily by females (girls; she/her) in ‘days of yore’ such as cooking and sewing (or ‘domestic science’) would probably be of interest to males now.

These subjects all now come under the umbrella of ‘design and technology’ in the 21st century curriculum, which description also includes ICT (Information and Communications Technology) – or ‘computer science’ – and are available to members of both sexes and ‘gender assignment’.

Beyond school, a huge demand now exists for design and technology courses for adult learners (post-16), as digital design tools and softwares, such as Adobe Acrobat, Photoshop and Illustrator, and 3-D Modelling become ever more integrated into the world of work.

Indeed, it seems nothing of any value can be designed manually anymore, not least because these designs and technologies make conceptualisation so much easier and faster for non-designers. Paper and ink (or more usually graph paper and pencil) are disappearing from the design desks, now populated with a PC or Mac, a big screen and a 3-D printer…

Additionally, once crystallised, those concepts can quickly be distributed digitally across continents within seconds to manufacturers and workshops to produce a working model within hours. This process would previously have (potentially) taken weeks or months.

Nevertheless, many practical subjects of interest to people from a wide range of age groups and backgrounds are still in huge demand. Design and technology courses in Digital Photography, Living Space Planning, and Interior Design, for example, literally ‘fly off the (digital) shelves’ at Cambridge Open College. Emerging design and technology course subjects in more specialised areas such as sports equipment design, software engineering and application design are already established.

Design and technology courses are available for study online or by distance learning, which provides a much more convenient, flexible and affordable education pathway.

Cambridge Open College’s rapidly expanding Design and Technology Courses range already includes the subjects mentioned, their qualification development team are hard at work to produce more. Go to https://cambridgeopencollege.ac to see what’s on offer…

Health And Social Care Courses

Posted by : October 12, 2021 admin

The Health and Social Care sector is a booming sector in the UK, not least because it’s part of the fabric of the UK health system generally. Not for nothing is it the envy of the world, with the NHS (National Health Service) dominating the professional landscape in the medical field, and the Care Quality Commission (CQC) looking after most of the non-medical institutions such as residential homes and nursing homes for the elderly or infirm.

Specialised areas such as Mental Health (a massive sector in its own right) have some crossover and that is reflected in the diversity of disciplines and range of practitioners operating within them.

Health and Social Care courses necessarily share that diversity and range. Cambridge Open College, a leading provider in the sector, is proud of its contribution. Health and Social Care courses are available right across the spectrum, from a Level 3 in Health and Social Care to a Level Management and Leadership in Care, and a Level 3 in Diet and Nutrition to a Level 4 in Counselling Children.

Cambridge Open College’s wide and varied Health and Social Care Courses are endorsed by Focus Awards, and Ofqual-regulated Awarding Organisation, under their FQP (Focus on Quality Provision) Scheme. They are ideal for practitioners who need to demonstrate Continuing Professional Development (CPD) for their respective professional membership organisations to remain ‘current’ in their chosen specialism.

The Health and Social Care courses provided by Cambridge are also ideal preparation for anyone wanting to move into the sector, change careers, or increase their competence.

By their nature, Health and Social Care courses are of interest to a broad cross-section of learners just for interest or to develop skills and disciplines to improve their parenting or care of an elderly relative, for example.

Design And Technology Courses

design

Once upon a time, Design and Technology Courses were primarily in practical subjects taught in schools, such as woodwork, metalwork and a little more recently computing (now called ICT; Information and Communications Technology).

Today, with the rapidly increasing prevalence of digital design tools and software, such as Adobe Acrobat, Photoshop and Illustrator, and even 3-D Modelling, much design and technology subject matter has become more conceptual.

However, many practical subjects of interest to people from a wide range of age groups and backgrounds are still in huge demand. Examples include Digital Photography, Garden Design, Interior Design, and more specialised areas such as architecture (including floor planning and space design), aviation and marine.

Design and technology courses are available for study in almost all educational institutions at many levels. While University degree courses are necessary for higher-level career choices in those more specialised areas, most of the skills and knowledge required for the more practical applications listed above can be obtained through online or distance learning. Cheaper and more convenient for many.

Cambridge Open College is expanding its Design and Technology Courses range, which already includes Digital Photography, Garden Design, and Interior Design.

Business And Commerce Courses

Posted by : September 28, 2021 admin

BUSINESS-AND-COMMERCE

Has there ever been a more difficult or trying time for business and commerce in the UK?

As the country emerges from the pattern of repeated “lockdowns” imposed by the UK government through the initial phases of the Covuid-19 pandemic, the true cost of the virus is crystallising.

Many commercial enterprises and “household names” have disappeared in the incredibly tough economic climate, while unemployment – in no small part due to the collapse of so many businesses – has become unacceptably high (although not quite as devastating as was initially forecast).

The government’s assistance packages through Furlough schemes are due to be end shortly, which is anticipated to place a huge strain on those businesses and individuals that have survived thus far because of that assistance.

It’s a double-edged sword. Over the last 18 months or so, thousands of employees in particular have “enjoyed” receiving 80% of their wages or salaries for ostensibly doing nothing. Most businesses surviving through the furlough “holiday” have found it very difficult to recruit new employees because they either don’t want to work, or have been prevented from doing so by the terms of the furlough scheme.

This massive cohort of individuals have taken the time to reflect on, and have had the opportunity to perhaps consider, a change of career as the workplace reopens. However, having the relevant qualifications to be able to do so is something of an issue for many.

Colleges and universities have some business and commerce courses available, but they are largely delivered formally, with inflexible start dates set by terms or semesters.

This inflexibility opens up a huge opportunity for distance learning providers or open study centres that deliver such business and commerce courses remotely.

The pandemic has favoured such institutes in many ways, and one such provider, Cambridge Open College, developed an innovative Virtual Learning Environment (VLE) that provides a safe, secure learning environment accessible from home or any other “clean” environment with an Internet connection.

Cambridge Open College has a thriving student community, all learning remotely through its pandemic-tested, battle-ready VLE, many of whom are studying business and commerce courses for just this purpose – to change careers.

These courses are much more affordable than those provided by “bricks and mortar” institutions, and many are nationally recognised; they result in qualifications on the Regulated Qualification Framework.

Business and Commerce Courses include management studies, assessor qualifications, and specific subjects such as HR, accounting and entrepreneurship. All of these and more are available from Cambridge Open College and are flexible enough to fit in around full-time work, a busy social life (if any of us still have this), and even single parenting.

Plus, they come with up to 12 months dedicated tutor support. What’s not to love?

Health Management And Social Care

Posted by : September 22, 2021 admin

health management and social care

Health Management and Social Care have been in the news almost continuously since the start of the pandemic. However, since the UK began “loosening” it’s pandemic controls after the last lockdown, issues around health management and social care have become even more prevalent.

Without doubt, the NHS continues to struggle in meeting non-pandemic needs (Covid-19) in terms of health management, and social care services, particularly those delivered through independent nursing and residential homes for the elderly, continue their lamentable failure to perform as expected.

While the government and its opposition continue to quarrel over the effectiveness or otherwise of delivery, health management and social care progress, expansion or development remains unsatisfactory and pedestrian at best.

Recruitment for healthcare professionals and care workers is falling far behind demand, not least because the pandemic has put such individuals right in the front line of fighting the virus. Health management and social care professionals, and particularly their leadership, are experiencing significant difficulty in providing the levels of service expected by the public. This has not been helped by the lack of progress in negotiation for more acceptable levels of remuneration following what is widely regarded as a pay ‘freeze’ at the last budget.

Universities and colleges are also falling behind in providing enough qualified “foot soldiers” for the front-line, so online providers such as Cambridge Open College are picking up the “slack” through remote delivery of qualification courses in health management and social care. Their courses can be studied flexibly, worked around employment and lifestyle, and are very affordable.

Get Best Online Beauty Courses UK

Posted by : September 14, 2021 admin

beauty-care-courses

Up until recently (the last 10 or so years), Beauty courses were primarily in practical subjects such as hairdressing, applying makeup, depilation, creating henna tattoos and other similar aspects of personal grooming. They were taught in some schools, alongside so-called ‘domestic science’ subjects, and usually only to females. Online Beauty Courses in UK were few and far between and difficult to find.

How the world has changed!

Today, with the rapidly increasing self-awareness, particularly of young people, and the blurring or elimination of gender-specific products, treatments, and grooming techniques, not only has the beauty sector exploded, the need for new and more adventurous products has become a huge market and business opportunity.

That rapid growth and opportunity has spawned a massive demand for new treatments, styles, and attitudes that has struggled to keep up. The widening void between supply and demand has called for innovative training in many new areas (such as nail technologies) and broadening of existing ‘traditional’ beauty skills (such as hairdressing), alongside treatments that would hitherto have been classed as cosmetic surgery, such as lip fillers.

The education and training sector has accelerated accordingly to provide courses in a plethora of new subjects and specialisms. Colleges and universities have provided some courses to meet demand, but many are too short to fill a formal semester-based curriculum, and even more are in demand from people already working in the sector who want to ‘bolt on’ new qualifications to improve the range of products and services they can deliver to their clients.

Online Beauty Courses (UK) are a convenient option for such individuals. They can be studied from home, flexed around work and family commitments, and – unlike courses at ‘bricks and mortar’ institutions – can be completed from anywhere with an internet connection. Cheaper and much more convenient for many.

Cambridge Open College is expanding its Online Beauty Courses UK range, which already includes Beauty Therapy, Makeup Application, and Indian Head Massage, all at Level 3, and others.

Courses To Become A Lecturer

Posted by : September 9, 2021 admin

online_course

Cambridge Open College has recently added to its raft of teaching courses, the latest of which are aimed at those wanting or needing some help with researching, preparing for, and delivering lectures and conducting assessments.

Lecturing is as much about delivery as it is about content. Indeed, good lecturers cultivate a stage presence and use public speaking skills to engage with their audience. In this way, the content carries more weight, is much more interesting to the recipients, and therefore memorable.

Courses to become a lecturer are few and far between in the “mainstream” educational sector, but Cambridge Open College is innovative and flexible enough to recognise the need.

Before tackling the sometimes-pressurised environment of public speaking and delivering live lectures, a great place to start is conducting assessments.

Many of the skills needed are precursors to teaching and lecturing, such as being able to crystallise simple operations for a student or learner, helping to formalise the principles of teaching, learning and assessment (core material for an academic lecturer), and having the competence and background to be able to analyse what a target audience needs to hear and know.

Brand new courses to become a lecturer being developed right now, so “watch this space”. In the meantime, you can study to become an Internal Quality Assurer or take one of the other assessor qualifications (most of which are on the Regulated Qualification Framework – RQF) and build up the confidence and knowledge to take you further.

Who knows, you might even consider a change of career?

Online Beauty Courses UK

Posted by : September 7, 2021 admin

beauty-care-coursesUp until recently (the last 10 or so years), Beauty courses were primarily in practical subjects such as hairdressing, applying makeup, depilation, creating henna tattoos and other similar aspects of personal grooming.

More Online Beauty Courses are currently with the UK qualification development team. Why not check them out now? Go to https://cambridgeopencollege.ac to find out more…
